Learning about Africa’s Higher Educational Institutions
Currently, I am exploring higer institutions in the African continent to conduct my graduate research in bioarchaeology. I want to focus on how environmental impacts and external stressers can alter human health over generations. I found a general list of African countries arranged by population, and I browsed each countries higher educational institutions starting from lease populated. I refered to the website AfricaUniversities.org because they have a thorough directory of African countries’ colleges. Although, I am likely going to focus on my post-grad studies at an institution with a program similar to the research I want to fulfill and study for my Doctoral studies, I was inspired by the higher educational facilities available and I created a list of African colleges that stood out while I am scanning for a potential educational institution to study at soon.

I learned that some regions use international universities that provide remote classes to obtain a degree. Specifically, Africauniversity.org mentions in Equatorial Guinea students attend The Universidad Nacional de Distancia (UNED) which is located in Europe.
Some smaller country institutions halted as a result of COVID-19. Some international countries require special connections like Gabon’s university websites could not open on my regular internet service.
In addition to researching bioarchaeology to help misrepresented communities and be beneficial to doing groundbreaking studies in Africa, I am interested in a postgraduate university affiliated with the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority. SO moving forward, I will include present AKA chapters in my internet browsing for colleges to pursue my Doctoral studies. Although, I did not get halfway through the list of African countries and their postgraduate institutions, I kut my search for now. I hope I will get a clearer idea of my options after locating AKA sorority chapters in Africa!
